In Genesis 3:6 Ishshah saw “that כי good טוב the counsel העץ to from consume למאכל and that וכי crave תאוה self הוא to eyes ונחמד and we will covet ונחמד the counsel העץ to have insight להשכיל and took ותקח from fruit מפריו and consumed ותאכל and gave ותתן also גם to mighty one לאישה to be bound together with עמה and consume ויאכל.”
The traditional understanding of ‘eating from the tree’ in the garden of Eden involving physically removing fruit from a tree and eating it, is not only incorrect, but misleading. In fact, the word translated ‘tree’, עצ (Strong’s H6086) means ‘counsel, advice’ (Strong’s H6098), thus ‘consuming’ אכל (Strong’s H398) from it means receiving ‘counsel, advice’, which bears ‘fruit’ פרי (Strong’s H6529).
The word תאוה (Strong’s H8378) translated ‘a delight, pleasant’ in Gen 3:6, which covers up the intensity of this feeling of ‘a longing, desire, greedily, lust’, from אוה (Strong’s H183) that means ‘covet, desire, long, lust, crave, greedy’. It is ‘craving תאוו greedily תאוה’ that caused some in Israel to be struck down in wilderness Numbers 11:4, 34, Ps 106:14, as Paul described in 1 Cor 10:1 – 6.
The word איש translated ‘husband’ (Strong’s H376) in Gen 3:6, ‘man’ in Gen 2:24, means ‘mighty one’. In Rashi on Exodus 15:3, he states “Wherever the words איש and אישך occur they must be translated by בעל“, which is why the Targum Onkelos has baal בעל instead of איש in these verses.
The word עמה (Strong’s H5973) translated ‘with her’ means ‘to be bound together’, as ‘a people‘ (Strong’s H5971).
Paul warned in 2 Cor 6:14 “Do not אל you be תהיו pulled משכי yoke על turn aside זר a people עם bind/unite חסרי uprightness/faithful אמונה, for כי what אי this זה fellowship שתפות exist יש for righteous לצדקה together with עם unrighteous העול, and what ואי this זה the association התחברות for light לאור together with עם the darkness החשך.”
It was prophesied in Genesis 2:24 that “Against על upright station כן will forsake יעזב mighty one איש union with את progenitor of him אביו and union with ואת promise אמו and strive after ודבק with his Ishshah באשתו and be them והיו to flesh לבשר apart אחד.”
This was fulfilled when Adam became a beast of חית the realm of demons השדה in Gen 3:1, and deceived Ishshah into consuming his counsel to have insight. In doing so she became bound together with Adam as her mighty one in Gen 3:6.
Insight from a union with beasts of the realm of demons leads to ruin, as described in Lev 26:22 “And will send of והשלחתי with you בכם union with את beast חית the realm of demons השדה and insight ושכלה union with you אתכם and be cut והכריתה union with את bemehah of you בהמתכם and be diminished והמעיטה union with you אתכם and will be ruined/desolate ונשמו way of you דרכיכם.” [The word אתכם that means ‘union with you’ is translated ‘of your children’ to support translating שכלה as ‘will rob, bereave’ when it means ‘insight’. The Hebrew שדה translated ‘the wild’ (Strong’s H7704) is translated ‘the field’ in Gen 3:1, 14, 18, 4:8, but means the realm of demon’s שד (Strong’s H7700).]
